March break Recap

March break started with Holly's Hockey game on Saturday. Scott and Holly went to a hockey game Saturday night,

Some cute photos of the cat and Holly playing dress up :)
On Sunday we packed up and went to Grammy's house :) Got there early enough for supper and then just took it easy the rest of the night. Tired bunch!

Monday morning I went tanning in Grammy's appointment then we went shopping and got Grammy a new camera for her trip, added some new Webkinz to the collection, and then Grammy went off to work while we took the kids to a movie. Taylor and I saw ERagon, and Scott took the little ones to Arthur and the Invisibles. That was fun! Taylor wasnt feeling too well so she was glad to go home.
We went to Grammy's and made supper, then we took it to Trent and Vicky's to eat. We visited and the kids terrorized the dogs ;) While Trent and Scott watched a hockey game (oh yes, and Holly) the others kinda dropped off to sleep and Vicky and I scrapped. We did the MNML at LIITD for Mar 12. Turned out nicely and this one only took me 2 days to post LOL.

We stayed wayyyy too late and when we woke the kids to go home Holly complained of a sore belly. Taylor had been complaining all week, so not a shocker. Holly said on the way home "I think I might throw up" and in the middle of me saying "well if you need to tell me right away so we can stop" I peeked around and yup it was too late already.

We cleaned her up on the side of the road and raced home and tucked them all into bed. Holly made hourly trips to the bathroom and a couple of hours later Annika joined her in regular visits. By morning most tummies had settled down.

Tuesday we packed up a little in the morning, then went to New Minas where Grammy was going to take the little ones to see Happy Feet but it was sold out, as was everything else! LOL POpular movies :) We went to Walmart and bought a movie to watch, and then went back to Grammy's to watch and to play with Grammy's camera.

After a bit there we got ready and went out for supper. It was Uncle Trent's birthday and 2 days later it was Grammy's birthday.

Taylor was the only kid who actually ate much...

We ordered toast for Holly who didnt really eat it and Annika had Vicky's fries because I knew she wouldnt need much more than that.

The birthday people got cake for their desserts which they shared nicely, and then we went back to Grammy's for cake we had gotten. we packed up the car, loaded the kids, and headed back to Truro.

We arrived home to a house that had mostly survived, and 2 missing toads! The cat has been spending alot of time on top of their home, and he did while we were away manage to knock the whole cage off the bureau. Poor toads! We called Kyle to make sure they were not poisonous (in case silly cat had actually EATEN one) and then we went to bed.

Wednesday I did a lot of paperwork while Scott worked. the kids played pretty well together. I think they needed ONE down day on their vacation! LOL
SCott lifted up the Girls' bureaus and there were the toads...chilly but perfectly alive :) they are in a heavier home now, and seem very happy there.

Wed night we went to one of Scott's hockey games. The kids had fun, his team won, and there were no fights, much to Holly's disappointment.

Thursday we went to the Museum of Natural History in Halifax! Read all about it in another blog :)

Thursday at the museum I started to not feel very well. I am glad the kids were so good, they didnt cause me any trouble at all!
We had dinner at Scott's parent's place, and Cara spent the night with us. I went to bed early, after having 4 kid's Gravol UGH! LOL

Friday I slept in and got up to help Scott take the kids to see Charlotte's Web :) That was a cute movie :)

Friday night I slept.

Saturday I slept. All day. I even cancelled a SU class because every time I got up out of bed it was not nice :( The kids apparently didnt do much while I was sleeping. Scott's parent's were away.

Finally Sunday I got out of bed around lunch time. We went to Walmart and the Mall to get crickets for the toads and to get Taylor books. She had some birthday money and wanted to get books with it. OH YEAH :)

And that was March Break :)

For an Elsie Flannigan Challenge and for Abby's black and white challenge at the same time, this is 4 photos grouped together (EF#8 I think) scrapped on b/w. I stamped the background (I like that part) but someone said USE your writing on it and I thinkthat's why I dont like it. I will redo it when I get home.

Last hockey Game of the official season

Yah cause we will be seeing some photos from Jamboree...whenever that is. But today was the official last day of the season! :) No more cold rinks! Um who am I fooling? LOL there is still ice to be had!

We all went to the hockey practice last night and to the game today. Well they played games last night too but today was Full Ice games :) LOVE it!
They are so good compared to when they started last fall! I love seeing the improvements in the group in general, it's awesome!

They started off with a drill to warm up, puck handling and corners and all :)
When they started the game Holly was in the net first. She has this funny idea that she might want to be a Goalie. I dont know if I want her to be a Goalie :/ It's a lot of pressure and a lot of expensive gear!
Holly did extremely well in the game ! She promised me she would get a goal and she didnt, although she hit the goal post once. I was concerned she would be upset about not getting a goal but she was ok :)

She has the puck in this nice series of photos but see how that bigger kid knocked her down and took it away? She has some growing to do hehehehe and she does spend a lot of time on the ice. I think her skates are dulL!
But she's not afraid to get right in there and get the puck! It's nice to see her trying hard! Scott says she plays really smart hockey. She doesnt always folow the puck, but gets herself into a position to take a pass and score a goal. I say he is teachign her to hang around the net waiting for goal chances. HA! lol

At the end they did races. Holly was in the first group, 2 times around the nets and then off the ice. LOL It was cute, Holly did ok but fell on the last corner, had so much fun!

Annika made a big hit with her Manners apparently :) While she was running in and out the door, some fellow held the door for her and she looked up and thanked him. He thought that was great !LOL I am so glad they have manners sometimes :)

I also really enjoyed the support from the coaches and from the team mates that Holly enjoyed! At one point I heard the kids on Holly's team cheering for her...and I had to ask someone "are they saying Go Holly Go Holly??" and they WERE! She stands out a bit, as being one of only 3 girls there, and also as one who has improved by leaps and bounds! It's awesome :) Scott says they all really like her there! She's really fit in, I hope she keeps loving hockey :)

A MNML finally done

LOL It took me over 3 weeks to do this layout! I was already, I had my stuff, I started the Monday Night Mystery layout at LIITD. Then I realised. I could not find something that was Critical to the layout I was making! Rather than just change photos, I decided I would wait until I found what was missing to finish the layout. 3 weeks later, item is still missing. So I went on without it, leaving a nice spot for it to be tucked into later.

But it is together now. This is Annika's first "real" salon haircut. It was just before Christmas of 05. She was 3. And she was very very proud! Now I have these little curls in an envelope somewhere. They were in my camera bag for a long long long time. But I moved them for fear they would get lost. Now Ive misplaced them. I cannot even imagine where. SO in the slide holder there is a slide waiting patiently to be glued down over some very cute hair. LOL

Layouts from Ronnie's Newest Kit

Layout Today and an Elsie Flannigan Challenge done!

I made 2 layouts so far today :) I made a nice simple one that took wayyyy too long :) see it here:) it is part of the LIITD GDT spotlight :) and then I did a really fast one that really was fast for the latest Elsie Flannigan challenge that my friend and I are doing!

Here this is for you Wolfish one!
Elsie's # 7 challenge was to take an artistic photo. I do that all the time LOL But I dont often scrap them. I decided on this one day that I was going to take a photo and scrap that. Annika and I made cookies and we had fun so I took an artisitic photo of the cookies and lol scrapped that.

Winter Walk

It's really nice when we get a nice warm, melty day to take a walk in the park during the winter. It's also fairly dangerous lOL so it takes a particular winter day to do it!
The park in town is wonderfully maintained, beautiful, and full of steep trails and stair, drop offs, waterfalls, cliffs, etc. Walking there in the winter just about drives me crazy since I dont always know where the paths are going, I often end up on really steep ones LOL

On Saturday we had one of those perfect days. It snowed and then rained the night before, and was very warm (like 8+ degrees). Taylor and Holly and I decided to walk in the park. Annika stayed home. I'm really glad she did. It was all I could do to get Holly up and down safely :)
So it was icey. BUt not as bad as it had been. And it was slushy and very very wet.

We parked at the top of the park and walked in from there. That way we started up, and didnt have to climb right away. It also bypasses the playground which I had no intention of visiting.
This part of the park is groomed for the skiers. That makes it really nice to walk on :) The kids thought the tracks were quite funny :)
The kids had to stop and look at absolutely everything! Sticks and berries, moss on trees, and this tree stumo that has been the resting place of a squirrel or chipmunk, from the look of all the pine cones and nut shells there.

We turned off before too long onto a trail that went deeper into the park. The kids wanted to Investigate the Forest heheheh so off we went :)

This lead to many trails along the "valley" of the park there the fences and stairs, and waterfalls are. We walked up one side of it to a little covered bridge at one end.

We spent a little time here while the kids checked out everything in the Gully. Taylor thought this was a good time to toss snow balls at me. How wrong she is! LOL!

Around the corner we walk out and off a cliff...well no not right off, but holy it was steep and icey! LOL

And then right down some steps that were so icey, the kids wend down on their bums. Then they complained endlessly about the wet. LOL

Now we were down a step and to the first of the waterfalls there. They were frozen of course but we could hear the water underneath the ice. Taylor wanted to go out on the frozen water and slide down onto the frozen pond. NO.
Then the dizzying view down to the next waterfalls. The kids didnt actually make it down to there, it was too slippery and they chose to go up instead. I ran down and snapped a photo and then back up, where we took another set of stair higher.

Still some clowning around to do up there! LOL they were wet and uncomfortable but not in any hurry to get back to the car ;)
Now we went across some really slippery trails to Jacob's Ladder, a steep long set of steps at the best of time :) We went down there into the flat of the park and it was kind of a relief to be off the hills. We walked along one side for awhile, past the river.

On the side of the hill they decided to make many snow angels LOL til they were just perfect :) It's much easier on the side of the hill!

they played beside the river for awhile, tossing snowballs in to see if it was really frozen. LOL It wasnt thick but it was frozen.
At the fork they could have gone right, into the heart of the park with the playground and bandstand, or left, up another trail, to behind their school, where we take the road back up to the car. That's where we went.
Holly spent a lot of time on the ground. She fell many times in the last 1/2 hour, getting tired I think but it really was icey.

Back at the car, we stripped out of went winter clothes before heading home.
