Holly's Bike

Holly has been riding her bike for 2 years now, and we noticed right away this spring that it was awfully small and she was banging her knees on the handle bars. There should have been a nice bike for her size already here, from when Taylor was that size; Scott managed to mangle a pedal on that one while he was trying to change it, and there were no "spare parts" available to be bought, so we had to move on to different ones, and there was no bike when Holly outgrew her bike.
This pink bike is a great bike and the kids love it. It sparkles and it looks great lol and with Annika learning to drive her 2-wheeler last week and needing a bigger bike, it was time to move Holly on, and give Annika the pink bike.
So we have been looking; we didnt just wanna buy a walmart bike that was cheap enough and her end up struggling on it. We wanted something that would be worth some money when we are done with it. We didnt really think Holly would go for another pink or blue or "frilly" bike at all, preferring a sporty bike. And for what the bikes were costing, we had not found the bike yet. Scott got the Hub Cycle flyer which I would have completely ignored, and found the bike. THE bike. And off we went to look at it. It didnt take long to realise it was a good bike for the same cost as all those Walmart bikes, and we walked out with a surprise for Holly.

Which kinda of drives me MAD because Holly is having a period of GRRRRR lately; she cant keep her mouth shut lol she just goes off and spews all this nasty and its driving me crazy!

But there, sits the bike.

We came home with Annika sworn to secrecy as she was with us. Actually, we picked Holly up at school with the bike in back and she didnt notice it hahahaha
Scott adusted her old bike while she was wandering around lol. She was being so BAD that I wasnt even sure she was getting the bike. Scott dropped the seat and handle bars on the pink bike for Annika.
Well later in the evening they are finally settled enough that I let them ride the bikes. Holly hops on hers, down the driveway, and stops....There's something wrong with my bike. Its all wrong! Fix it! lol she starts in on Scott to Fix it now! lol
We suggest that maybe since the bike is obviously too small for her, she should let Annika try it out. Well that was IT! Annika LOVES this; she's getting one over on Holly AND she knows the green bike is in the shed, waiting.
Holly has a total meltdown, yelling and stomping on the street. She throws her helmet and sits on the ground in a huff. Im like NO bike for that child but Scott comes down the driveway on the green bike anyway SIGH.
She changed her tune pretty quickly. Smiles and thank you mommy Thank you daddy all around. Like she learned anything from that little lesson. NOTHING lol. Thanks Daddy, thanks a lot!

So Annika is happy, she has a nice, sparkly, Annika-sized bike. She loves it and doesnt care who had it before her.

And Holly has her awesome new bike. Its alllll Holly; sporty, rugged, and green lol. Not pink.
Such a lucky little girl!

Weekend at Grammy's

lol
After the fun run we left right away to go to Grammy's house, where we helped with her yard work. The large lot needs a lot of raking and cleaning, and we got a good start on the raking. Flower beds need some attention as well :) Next time I am thinking.

Trees budding out. next time I am sure there will be loads of leaves on that tree.

Magnolia. Very pretty. Saw a really large tree on the drive home, looking forward to this one getting bigger.

The side of the yard we did first, starting beside the barn and going up the driveway and across to the side and front yard.
Did this Saturday night. Went to visit Vicky and Cullen after it got dark. After a restless sleep Sat night thanks to the dogs and the Pheasants screeching in the back yard, we tumbled out of bed early Sunday and went back at it. Need to get the raking done before the grass gets too high and makes raking harder.

the right side of the front yard where we started on Sunday morning. the sod laid last year had a rough winter and a lot didnt root well. I hope the fellow who put it down gave a decent guarentee; considering.

Hauling the leaves and pine needles to the pile. The pile grew all day. Taylor did a lot of the hauling and dumping.

Taylor on Sunday morning looking chipper. The flies were super super bad, and we all ended up stinking of fly spray and dryer sheets lol

Annika and Shelley on Sunny Sunday morning, on the deck enjoying some grapes for a snack.

In the afternoon Cullen brought his parents to visit at Grammy's house. The girls were really happy to see him there. They flocked inside to hold him after he had a snack :)

Annika was like let me hold him. Ok Im done now. HAHAHAHAHHAA

Back outside, hilarious Shelley was everywhere working very hard.

Thank goodness Trent came out, because Grammy needed her washer drain dug up, and no one knew where it was. Trent knew where it was and they dug it up, got it running, and the basement will stop flooding. :) Taking a little refreshment break lol over all that heavy digging.

Grammy and Cullen on the swing

Being Foolish

And the finale was waiting til after 5 and burning this pile of tree crap lol it was a huge pile. we kept putting crap on it until we had cleaned up all the piles. There is only a little bit of raking left and to be honest I dont think in the past 5 years we have ever gotten to it hahahahaha So Im not going to knock myself out raking the back corner of the yard.

Flower beds next!

We didnt make it home Sunday night, rather stayed and left MOnday morning and got the kids to school only slightly late.

A good working weekend.

Hub Town Youth Fun Run 08

Saturday May 3 we were able to take the kids to the Truro Youth Run! They had practiced for a couple of weeks and are working on becoming good little runners :)
The Douglas Street School led by parents created a running club. It would be nice to continue this running club past the youth run, time will tell.
Running Club at the park
Some running games. Little people arent really made to run distances so they get their practice running with games.

Saturday Morning came sunny and warm :) yahoo I might have skipped it had it been raining Im so tired of being cold! hahahha

Parking at the TACC grounds was madness so Scott dropped us off and went to park down the road. We Checked in and got the Tshirts for the kiddies :)

Cute little things in Orange shirts :)

Hanging out waiting for the run to begin. Because we were early checking in expecting crowds, we had some time to wait.

The three Moosekittens. At school these three little ones are inseparable. their teacher calls them les trois Mousketiers, which Annika translated into the three moosekittens. LOL
The little ones were doing the Kiddie Kilometer which only really runs around the track once or twice or how many times, so Scott stayed with them and they ran with the Carreaus.

Sarah and Emily waited with us and would have run with us had they not gotten so far ahead that they missed the turn onto the road lololol

The crowd warming up. there was likely a thousand people there :)

Annika running her Km. She is a really good runner on her own, she actually can outrun Holly and Taylor too :)

Still truckin'

Taylor Holly and I returning from our 2.1 km loops. I likely could have gone further but Taylor and Holly were both beat. lol we have to work on breathing and not sounding like little clydesdales lol.

Afterwards, there were prizes and the bouncy house. There were some snacks and games. well I thinkn the games meant bouncy houses with long long line ups. lol

The kids went on the bouncy house and then waited while prizes were drawn which included bikes that we didnt win but Holly won a prize and she picked a bike helmet which she really needed.
fun Run a success! I think my kiddies are going to be doing lots more running!!

Our Day with Cullen

End of April we had a chance to go spend a day in the Valley. I took Annika out of School and we went to visit Trent and Vicky and little Cullen. :) He is about 6 weeks old.

We got there shortly before lunch time and settled in while Trent and Vicky went out to get their new car *grin* a pretty red Honda gotta love it for sure.
So we got to look after Cullen for a couple of hours :)
He was so cute, he likes to be held and snuggled but sometimes wanted to not be, so we would tuck him in his little chair and grab the camera....

He makes the most hilarious faces, and noises along with them LOL He looks just like my grandfather HAHAHHAHA
No More Photos Missy!
Annika taking a break lol she isnt the Baby Lover in this house, when they cry she has had enough HAHAHAH!
trying so hard to get that toy...

Big Big Day on Lavinia

Today was a big, busy day :) The Kids had all sorts of activities and fun times :)

All the kids went to school this morning, and I picked up Taylor at noon so she could come home and get ready for her Music Festival. She was in the Piano class today, 9 years old, playing Red Robin Rag. Which she has been practicing for a few months now.
Taylor heading into her recital. She was so nervous! She said her belly didnt feel well. She also didnt want to go to sleep last night lol. She didnt practice enough IMO but what do I know. She was really tired of this song. lol

The big piano where they played their music. lol We were not allowed to take any photos during playing nor were we allowed to video record, so I have no record of her actual performance. lol but I did the best I could to get some photos of her
waiting very nervously for her turn. She was chewing her nails which she doesnt do, and she was jittery. She never used to be so nervous, she has performed a lot in front of others but the older she gets, the worse it is. I guess it is always like that. She ended up with a score of 83 which is really good, I dont know how she placed because they only place the top 3 but she was only 3 points off first so I think she did super good! She had the whole song memorized and didnt even look at her music.

After the festival we picked up the other kids at school, and went home. The kids got out their books and Scott came home in time to play on bikes. He took Annika's training wheels both off, and away she went! Just like that! She is riding a two wheeler!!!

So big big day for her!! :):):):):)

Before supper I did my running for the Learn to Run club and then I finished it up by going to Curves and working out pretty good there. :)

After I came home and ate I took Holly to Ball Hockey. She played really EXTREMELY well. I am so glad she likes it and she met some new friends there lol!
The team came together pretty good tonight and they won 7-1. I wish I had taken the camera :)

Pics from last week :)
